These are the 6 Essential Things That Effective Leaders Need to Do!

Over forty years of professional involvement in almost all aspects of leading, including identifying and qualifying leaders and training them, developing and consulting thousands of potential leaders. Many people, even though they have the best intentions, waste valuable time and miss out on opportunities because they are not prepared for what lies ahead. This article will briefly review, review, and discuss the six essential things that effective leaders must do.

  1. Build the best inner circle: What one seeks in his inner circle of trusted advisors often determines his ultimate potential and performance. There are many people who only agree with the original views of a man. However, this does not allow for open-minded leadership. It perpetuates the same old, same-old approaches and limits. Leaders who are wise realize this and seek out people with genuine integrity and special skills and knowledge. They also need to have the courage and confidence to communicate clearly their thinking, perspectives, and positions in a collaborative and intelligent way. This is the best way to maximize the impact of a set of common actions and processes.
  2. Comprehensive strategic planning: Many groups believe they are doing strategic planning. However, many resort to complaining and blaming, or failing to face the facts and looking rose-colored glasses. An in-depth strategic plan must start with an understanding of the group’s history, ideology, mission, and heritage. Then, consider whether it is still relevant or should be updated! The committee should examine where the organization is at the moment, what it has done, and if it needs to change (without reinventing the wheel) or go through a complete overhaul of where it wants it to be in the long-term, intermediate, and short-term. It is important to make sure it doesn’t become a purely, gripe-session, which can be destructive and counter-productive!
  3. A relevant, well-developed, action plan with contingency planning. At the beginning of one’s tenure, he should use what he learned from strategic planning and perceive, create, develop and implement the most pertinent, thoroughly – considered action plan. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. This means that every effort must be made in order to make it unique and appropriate for each group. To maximize sustainability and quality, action plans should include more than just Plan A.
  4. Table Of Responsibilities Using the right people from one’s inner circle, planning should include a detailed table of responsibilities for each aspect. It also must include a timeline and a way to monitor progress and determine if an alternative approach is necessary.
  5. Get stakeholders engaged/motivated/inspired:It is only when one clearly articulates his message/ reasoning/ purpose and what he seeks that he will achieve greater stakeholder engagement and commitment.
  6. Pragmatic ideas/ Meeting – of- the – minds:Beware of blind – ideallism’s dangers. Only when one is pragmatic in his approach can he get things done. Even if it’s the best, holding on to a particular approach can often lead to failure. This process must have the ultimate goal to reach a meeting of the -the -minds for the greater good.
